Making their debut in this event, two of Scotland's brightest rising stars - Beth Riva and Jason Banks joined together and fought their way into the last four of the Ambassador Cruise Line World Indoor Bowls Mixed Pairs finishing strongly in both sets to win 9-4, 7-5.
They came up against twice former winner Rob Paxton - successful in 2015 and again in 2019 with Marion Purcell from Wales and England's Ellen Falkner - and his new partner this time round - 29 year old Lucy Smith from Swindon who was making her debut.
The scores were level at 4-4 after seven ends in both set, but the Riva/Banks formation finished strongly, scoring a treble followed by a double in the first set, and then wrapped up with a double on the last end of the deciding set to get them over the finishing line and book a semi-final spot tomorrow (Saturday 18th January at 3.45pm.
