The World Bowls Tour (WBT) is delighted to announce a landmark £1 million investment from Potters Resorts into the sport of bowls over the next five years. This commitment reinforces Potters Resorts’ long-standing support for the game and will secure and develop the future of top-tier bowls events.
The investment will be allocated to three key areas: the continued development of the Scottish International Open, securing the prize fund for the prestigious World Indoor Bowls Championships held at Potters Resorts and broadcast on BBC TV each January, and the introduction of a brand-new UK Open event set to launch in the spring of 2026.
Gordon Woods, Events Manager of the World Bowls Tour, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership:
“We are delighted to secure a further five years of investment from Potters Resorts, who have been steadfast supporters of bowls and the WBT for more than 25 years. Their unwavering commitment has been instrumental in elevating the profile of the sport, and this latest investment ensures that bowls continues to thrive on the global stage.”
John Potter, Managing Director of Potters Resorts, highlighted the importance of continuing a long legacy within bowls:
“Potters Resorts is proud to cement its place as the home of world indoor bowls, providing a stage where the sport can shine on television and beyond. Our commitment goes far beyond hosting, it’s about supporting the game, celebrating its fantastic and friendly community, and ensuring that both our guests on fully inclusive bowls breaks throughout the indoor season, and the world’s top players at the World Championships, enjoy a truly world-class experience every time they visit.”
This major investment marks an exciting new chapter for the sport, guaranteeing the continued hosting of world-class competitions and solidifying bowls’ future for athletes and spectators alike.
