The last match of Day 11 at the Ambassador Cruise Line World Championships saw the concluding Round 1 game of the World Open Singles Championship played out between world-ranked 16 Jason Greenslade and Torquay's Sam Tolchard.
It was an exhausting day for Greenslade. Earlier in the afternoon he had lost in the final of the Open Pairs with partner Rob Paxton, agonisingly on a tie break against Scotland's Jason Banks and Michael Stepney.
Just three and a half hours after that disappointment, Greenslade was back on the rink, against the England international and he certainly didn't look jaded after that epic Open Pairs title decider, continuing that exacting form that he had displayed earlier in the day.
It was a low scoring, high quality match which lasted for two hours, with only nineteen shots scored between the players over the two sets of nine ends plus an additional three shots, with the tiebreak going to a sudden death best of three-end shoot-out.
Greenslade was the first to get on the card, Tolchard responded with a perfect conversion shot to win the second end and in the deciding end, an umpires measure awarded the shot to Tolchard, to wrap up the result with a 7-2, 4-6, 2-1 victory and a spot in Round 2 against defending champion Stewart Anderson on Wednesday 22nd January, which will be shown live on BBC Television from 1pm.
