Inverurie’s Jason Banks joins Mark Royal, Jamie Walker and Jon Wilson, becoming the fourth qualifier to book a 2nd round spot in the @Imagine Cruising World Indoor Bowls Open Singles Championship.

26-year-old Jason, a Graduate Mechanical Engineer with Scottish Water, was relentless, locking onto the pace from his first bowl and continually peppering the jack in his 10-1,8-4 victory against number 16 seed Simon Skelton from Nottingham.

In the first set Jason reeled off nine unanswered shots over the first five ends, and despite dropping a single on the sixth he in turned scored a single to put the set beyond reach at 10-1 with two ends to spare.

He continued his rich vein of form in the second set, opening with a full count of four shots. Simon responded with successive singles, and although both players scored on four ends each over the course of the match, Simon only counted singles while Jason’s full house was instrumental in carrying him over the finishing line 8-4 – after 8 ends.
