The Ambassador Cruise Line World Indoor Championships focus on the quarter-finals of the Women's World Matchplay Singles today (Sunday, January 19th). Eight players all hope to win a spot in Wednesday's semi-finals.
England's Nicole Rogers made her fourth appearance in this event. She lined up against 23-year-old Malaysia's Farrah Ain Abdullah, who was making her debut at Potters Resorts.
Farrah started well, scoring on two of the opening three ends to lead 3-1, but Rogers came back with a vengeance, counting eight shots for the loss of just a single over the remainder of the set to win 9-4.
In the second set, Farrah opened with a single, but the England international's experience shone through as she took control of the set to go 11-1 ahead with three ends remaining. She was content to drop a single on the seventh end to put the result beyond reach for the Malaysian, as she wrapped up the match 11-2.
She now waits for the winner of the match between defending champion Katherine Rednall from Norwich and Julie Forrest from Hawick, Scotland.
Match Result -
Nicole Rogers (Eng) beat Nor Farrah Ain Abdullah (Mal)
2-0 (9-4, 11-2)
