NEW PARTNERS STEPNEY AND GREENSLADE EDGE A THRILLER TO NAB A WORLD PAIRS SEMI-FINAL SPOT

The new pairing of Mike Stepney from Elgin in the North of Scotland and ex Welsh star Jason Greenslade, who now resides in Guernsey, won a top-notch exchange against the multi decorated Scots Paul Foster MBE and Alex Marshall MBE in the third quarter final game in the @Imagine Cruising World Indoor Bowls Pairs Championships, posting a hard earned 8-3, 6-7, 2-1 win.

Mike and Jason were in hot form in the opening set, jumping out to a 6-1, four end lead and then only dropping singles on two of the remaining four ends and signing off 8-3 with an end to spare.

The quality of the match was increased in the second set and – as was the case in the two previous quarter finals – was decided with the very last bowl.

This time though Paul and Alex did the early legwork and took a 5-1 lead after four ends.

Mike and Jason responded with five shots scored over the course of three of the next four ends to stand all square at 6-6 going into the last end where Paul and Alex scored that vital shot to push the match to a ‘best of three end decider’.

They once again shared the plaudits at 1-1 in the tie break and in a highly charged and tightly packed match deciding end, the Scotland/Guernsey combo got the ‘thumbs up’ to progress 2-1.
