A very welcome addition to the WBT calendar by everyone involved - the first of the semi-final matches in the Garage-Doors.com UK Open and in conjunction with our other sponsor Lean2Succeed at Stanley earlier today between England’s Mark Dawes and Scotland’s Paul Foster MBE.
In the best of 2 sets of 9 ends, Mark quickly settled into his stride on the show rink and took the first set 8-3.
As you would expect Paul regrouped and in a set of superb deliveries from both players, kept the enthusiastic supporters well entertained throughout the twists and turns.
Paul scored singles on each of the first four but in the battle for a place in the final Mark scored on four of the remaining four ends, clinching a match winning double on the last to seal the result in straight sets 7-6.
He now waits for the winner of the match which will also be an England v Scotand head to between Jamie Chestney and David Gourlay MBE which starts at 12.30am today.
The final will commence approx 2.45pm
