Jamie Chestney won the England v Scotland UK OPEN semi-final against David Gourlay MBE 7-6, 10-6.
Jamie trailed 0-4 and then 2-5, but scored 3 singles and a double to move 7-5 ahead playing last. However David can consider himself extremely unlucky – holding shot and then missing by the merest touch to edge out Jamie’s bowl that would have given him a set win.
David left himself an uphill battle in the second set and found himself trailing 9-3 with two ends remaining. A treble gave him a glimmer of hope but left him required a full house of 4 to win the set and force a tie break, but one again the jack broke unkindly for him and he lost a single and the set 10-6.
Jamie meets his world pairs partner Mark Dawes in this afternoon’s 2.45pm final – it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.
