DOUBLER AND SALMON SAFELY OVER THE OPENING HURDLE

Welsh two-some Damian Doubler and Dan Salmond progressed through their opening @Imagine Cruising World Indoor Bowls Pairs match, overcoming the highly experienced Israeli duo Zvika Hadar and Ruti Gilor 9-4, 11-3.

It wasn’t quite as one sided as the score line suggests with Ruti’s running bowls not returning favourable connections.

Damian and Dan jumped out of the blocks with a full count on the first end, maintaining the upper hand throughout the set and winning 9-4.

In the second though, it all went wrong for the Israelis. They scored an opening end double but then Welsh qualifiers reeled off a 3, 3, 2 and 1 to move 9-3 ahead, and despite Israel stopping the rot with a single on the sixth end, the Welshmen replied with a double to put the result beyond doubt with two ends in hand, 11-3.
