AUSSIE LISA FEATHERBY TAKES THE LAST SEMI-FINAL SPOT

Western Australia’s Lisa Featherby nabbed the last semi-final spot in the @Imagine Cruising Women’s World Matchplay Singles just a short time ago, beating 2011 champion Alison Merrien from Guernsey in a low scoring match 7-5, 7-2.

Alison never quite managed to hit her usual consistent stride and always appeared to be on the back foot while Lisa found line and length from the very beginning and produced a parade of precision bowls.

It was a hard-fought exchange between two very seasoned and highly experienced competitors.

In the first set, Lisa, from the Mosman Park club in Perth and Finance Director with Bowls Western Australia, won five of the nine end set while Alison won four.

The second set was fought out on a similar basis with nine shots scored over the course of the match with Lisa putting the result beyond doubt with a vital single on the eighth end to seal a straight sets victory and set up a last four clash on Wednesday afternoon against 2008 winner CeriAnn Glen from Wales – who only returned to the sport last year.
