WBT SCOTTISH INTERNATIONAL OPEN @ West Lothian IBC,
7th to 9th November 2023 FINAL - *Holder Stewart Anderson (Scot) bt Jamie Walker (Eng) 11-6, 8-3:
Scotland's Stewart Anderson was in superb form to retain the LEAN2SUCCEED Scottish International Open title at West Lothian, ending the hopes of reigning world indoor singles champion Jamie Walker.
In a magnificent display of accurate, inch perfect deliveries from both players, Anderson always had an answer to thwart most of Walker's challenges, beating him to the punch time and time again.
The score line showed 4-4 after four ends of the first set, but a treble and back to back doubles over three of the next four ends put the set out of sight with an end in hand at 11-6 in Anderson's favour.
His stunning form continued in the second, opening up a 5-0 four end lead, and keeping the count to a minimum over the remainder of the game and finally wrapping up with a double to take the set and bag the title 8-3.
Over the three days of play Anderson scored a total of 91 shots across his five matches for the loss of just 48 - accounting for Davey Mota from New Zealand, Norfolk's Mervyn King, fellow Scots David Gourlay MBE and Darren Burnett and lastly Northampton's Jamie Walker.
The next WBT event will be the World Indoor Championships which commence at Potters, Hopton on Sea, in Norfolk at the beginning of January.
