ALONIM SETS UP ANDERSON FIRST ROUND COMPETITION

Updated: Jan 15

The second match of Session 1 was the Preliminary Round Play-off between Filipino Ronald Lising (winner of the Thailand qualifier) and Israel's Daniel Alonim, and what a tussle they produced.

Alonim took an early 5-0 lead, but Lising dug deep and fought back to take a 9-6 lead going into the last end, only for Alonim to roll in a treble and share the set at 9-9.

The second set was also dramatic with Lising leading 4-0 and 6-2 after six ends, but once again Alonim rose to the challenge and chalked up a 1, 2 and 1 finish to square the set at 6-6 and he went on to win the tie break 2-0, and he now progresses to a first round match against defending champion Stewart Anderson from Scotland on Monday 20th January at 3pm.
